Financing Disruptive Innovations
Disruptive Technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain or IoT stand at the forefront of the next generation of innovations. They are critical for fostering competitiveness, promoting economic growth and addressing societal challenges. The second global wave of innovations and economic growth will be enabled by integrating these disruptive innovations into traditional industries. Investments into highly innovative and research-intensive SMEs and start-ups are critical for fostering innovation to help improve productivity levels and help Europe’s business and citizens reap the benefits digital transformation promises. Evidence shows that there is an important investment gap in disruptive technologies in Europe as compared with our main competitors. The session will address both the opportunities and challenges of promoting highly-innovative, research intensive SMEs and start-ups that focus on disruptive technologies.
The Innovation and Startups Village
In addition to the Innovation Forum, consider the Innovation and Startups Village. This exhibition is a major focus for the innovation ecosystem at ICT 2018. It brings together multiple key institutional actors such as the World Bank, the EIT, EIC and Startup Europe as well as highly innovative, award-winning market-facing companies and teams.
