The European Social Catalyst Fund (ESCF) is a new initiative designed to have a significant impact on some of Europe’s most pressing social challenges. The objective of the ESCF is to bring together public and private resources to improve social services to enable people who need support to live as valued and participating members of their communities.
The ESCF will provide financial and capacity building support to develop plans to scale proven social service innovations. It is anticipated that these plans will provide details of how public and private resources (philanthropy and/or social investment) can be brought together in a range of collaborations to help refocus public spending in a more effective direction in the interest of European citizens. It is intended that during the project a further phase will be designed, based on learning obtained, which will include a focus on supporting implementation of plans to scale proven social service innovations. The deadline for this call for proposals is April 15th 2020.

EUROPEAN DATA INCUBATOR 3RD OPEN CALL FOR STARTUPS Open call for startups and SMEs to participate in the European Data Incubator Big Data programme.

The European Data Incubator is a part of the European Commission’s efforts to build a data-driven economy in Europe by taking advantage of Big Data to create a competitive advantage. European Data Incubator, the EDI programme, aims to facilitate the use of Big Data by startups and SMEs as well as increase their technical and business skills.
So far the EDI has held 2 previous open calls that have resulted in 70 Big Data startups benefiting from the programme. As a result, this third open call is targeted towards startups, SMEs and groups of individuals (two to four people) who have expertise in a specific sector and have low to medium acquaintance with Big Data and Artificial Intelligence tools.
The open call is divided in three tracks and applicants are free to choose which of the three apply to them.

“Ready-made” where the applicant selects one of the challenges where data sets and data providers have been predetermined.
“Half and Half” track allows participants to bring their own challenges and use one EDI data set and one external data set to solve it.
“Free Choice” track allows applicants to choose their own challenge, data provider and data sets.

Each successful applicant will receive up to €100,000 in funding dependant on the maturity of the idea being developed and different KPIs. In addition, there will be training on state-of-the-art Big Data tools and mentorship, connections with other startups in the industry and access to data providers to develop the product. Training on soft skills and fundraising will also be offered to successful applicants and your startup will be featured as a part of the Big Data Value PPP European initiative and receive a great deal of visibility as a result. OPEN CALL FOR SOLUTION IDEAS TO TACKLE COVID-19

OPEN CALL FOR SOLUTION IDEAS TO TACKLE COVID-19 AMable is offering grants to develop ideas to help with the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

AMable is a consortium funded by the European Commission consisting of a group of experts from the technology, business and training industries who’s aim is to create a new eco-system that’s conducive to additive manufacturing.
Given the Coronavirus has caused issues across industries and borders, AMable is aiming to support ideas that help tackle product shortages, issues in the medical field as well as other issues affecting our economy and standard of living.
The open call will be done in two stages:

Submission of a definition of challenges where additive manufacturing can be applied. These will be published as “Challenge-sets”.
Call for proposals for a solution idea to one of the published challenge-sets.

Successful applicants will benefit from up to €10,000 and the support of the experts from AMable.

Impact EdTech is a programme co-funded by the European Commission aimed at boosting innovations in education throughout Europe. The first of two open calls is looking for Startups and SMEs with disruptive ideas that will facilitate the creation of gender-friendly, personalised and inclusive learning.
In addition to financial support, selected applicants will have access to an EdTech-specific incubation environment that will offer access to an education ecosystem as well as business and access-to-market support.
Solutions with these elements are encouraged:

AI and data analytics powered solutions.
Assistive educational technology for special needs education.
New assessment models tools.
Next generation Virtual/Exploratory Learning Environments and e-Portfolio softwares.
Blockchain technology based solutions.
Hardware-based devices.
Gamification.
Solutions aimed at tackling privacy and data protection in the use of digital learning tools.
Virtual or Augmented Reality (VR/AR) powered solutions.

Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) and the Spanish innovation consultancy Barrabés are launching an Industry 4.0 100% digital accelerator with a unique value proposition in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The digital accelerator, called Sharjah Advanced Industry Accelerator, is aimed at attracting startups with innovative solutions.
 
Startups working in response to challenges faced by Industry 4.0 in areas like Smart Construction, smart materials, sustainable design, green building, modularisation and prefabrication, building information modelling (BIM), additive manufacturing, as well as infrastructures and connected ecosystems will receive support from the programme.
 
Startups that offer solutions to these challenges in these focus areas with technologies such as Big Data, 3D printing, robotics, augmented reality, the Internet of Things, Blockchain or cybersecurity, are encouraged to apply.
 
 
Application to the programme will be open until the 25th of June and startups worldwide are encouraged to apply.

Eureka, a publicly-funded intergovernmental network aims to enhance European competitiveness by fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship, between small and large industries, research institutes and universities.
 
Eureka is holding an open call for solutions geared towards managing the next pandemic and participants are invited to submit research and innovation project proposals aiming to provide solutions and preparedness for highly contagious human infectious disease pandemics which inflict a high impact on society.
